1 - Hourglass Readers – “The Merchant of
Venice” (March)

The Hourglass Readers will present an abridged reading of Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice" at assorted locations: Performances will be at the

Keene Public Library, Auditorium, at 2 PM on Saturday, March 15. 

Hancock Library, on Saturday, March 8, 2 PM

Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro, VT on Friday, March 14 at 7 PM. 

 

All performances are free and open to the public. 

 

In the cast are Wendy Almeida, Frank & Catherine Behrens, Peter Eisenstadter, Sarah Ellsworth, Ariana Ellsworth, Perrin Ellsworth, Martin Hanft, PeggyRae Johnson, Henry Parkhurst, Dan Patterson (on March 8), Peter Schofield, Ruth Siegel, Marilyn Simons, Don Wilmeth and Ben Wise.

2 – Vermont Theatre Company – “Rumors” (March/April)
* * * *

Vermont Theatre Company presents Neil Simon's side-splitting comedy "RUMORS".

Four affluent couples arrive to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary of their hosts - Charlie and Myra Brock. The guests arrive only to find there are no servants, the hostess is gone, and the host has shot himself through the earlobe! Since the host is also the Deputy Mayor of New York, everyone feels the immediate need to keep this quiet - thus begins the comedic mayhem in this hilarious farce. Put some slick lawyers, a politician, a therapist, and a woman named Cookie in the same house together, and see what can happen!

 

The veteran cast of "Rumors" includes Cristen L. Rosinski, Karl Johnson, Donna Harlowe, Jim Bombicino, Jay Gelter, Jeannie McGartland, Eric D. Walther, C.J. Cummings, Mark Tullgren, and Brenda Seitz.

 

The play is directed by Marilyn Tullgren and assistent direction by Jay Gelter. Current President of VTC, Eric D. Walther is producing.

 

"Rumors" will be performed at the Dummerston Grange, March 28, 29 & 30 and April 4, 5 & 6 2008.

Friday and Saturday performances 7:30 PM. Sunday performances 3:00 PM.

4 - Raylynmor Opera – “Don Giovanni” (May)

The RAYLYNMOR OPERA COMPANY, in Keene, New Hampshire, will be presenting Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Colonial Theater in Keene.
 
Production dates are: May 16, 17, 18 - 2008.
 
This is a fully costumed and staged Italian language production with full orchestra. Elizabeth Bachman returns as Stage Director and Peter Szep as Music Director.

5 - Original Opera by Local College Student Author/Composer (March)

Tyler Flanders, a KHS graduate and currently a student at Ithaca College, has written an opera in Italian. It will be performed in Ithaca for his Senior Recital and he will also be playing the lead baritone role.
 
The performance will be on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 4:00 at Ithaca College in New York State.
 
This past summer, Tyler worked at CAKE and was the Music Director for a benefit show for MOCO Arts (Dames At Sea) as well as playing the male lead.

For their 49th season, the Monadnock Chorus will present their spring concert on:

10 – Vermont Theater Co – King Lear – more auditions (Feb)

AUDITIONS FOR:"Kent" and "Cordelia" and male ensemble roles in VTC's King Lear

The Vermont Theater Company will hold a second round of auditions to complete casting  for “King Lear”  on Thursday, February 28, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Brattleboro Union High School, Rm. 215.    Roles available include “Kent,” (30’s-60’s)  the loyal and authoritative duke who follows King Lear in his madness, “Cordelia” (late teens -30’s), Lear’s honest daughter,  and several men’s ensemble roles(late teens through adults). 

 

Actors should prepare 10-20 lines of Shakespeare or to read a scene at the audition.  Interested actors can visit the production website at www.freewebs.com/vtckinglear for more information or contact director Heidi Fagan at (603) 236-9135 or at heidifagan@hotmail.com.  An audition may also be privately scheduled for those unable to attend contacting the director prior to Thursday.  The production will be held June 26-29 outside at Living Memorial Park.

11 – Project Shakespeare 2008 – “As You Like It” – Applications (June)

PROJECT SHAKESPEARE celebrates 14 years of dynamic theatre education programs for middle and high school students.  Project Shakespeare Production 2008 will be “As You Like It”

How To Apply - To inquire about participation in Project Shakespeare, send the form below to:  Project Shakespeare, 51 Harkness Road, Jaffrey, NH  03452 by June 1, 2008.

Prior to the summer session, potential participants will be invited to attend a audition/interview meeting on Saturday, June 7th at 10 am with the director, Deborah S. Thurber.  If you cannot make that meeting, please contact her to schedule an alternative meeting.  Enrollment is limited to 15 so apply early!

All interview/auditions, workshops, and rehearsals will take place at the Cutler Memorial, 33 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH.  Performances will take place on the lawn in front of the Jaffrey Civic Center (across the street from the Cutler Memorial.)  Performances in other locations are possible and will be announced at a later date. 

Schedule - Meetings, workshops and rehearsals will take place Monday – Friday from 10 am to 2pm * 

Performances - August 7, 8 & 9 at 7pm*

Tuition - Participation in all workshops and fully-staged performance is $100.

(approximately 125 hours of instruction.)  Limited Scholarships are Available and will be rewarded on the merit of the need, not a student's interview/audition process.
